PNP SEES NO MAJOR THREAT TO UPCOMING EVENTS

From the Website of PNP - Philippine National Police

PNP SEES NO MAJOR THREAT TO UPCOMING EVENTS

The Philippine National Police maintains that the national peace and order and security situation remains to be highly stable and manageable vis-a-vis the threat posed by domestic threat groups.
Directorate for Intelligence (DI) Deputy Director, PCSUPT Generoso R. Cerbo Jr.  made the statement in view of the upcoming major events to be hosted by the government, namely the visit of the Roman Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis in January next year and the holding of APEC Head of States Summit on the later part of the year.
The PNP is continuously monitoring developments relative to the activities and movements of the local threat groups, particularly in the Southern Philippines.
No positive links among such groups have been established so far and no specific threats to the upcoming events coming from these groups have been detected.
The PNP and the entire Philippine intelligence community remain vigilant and watchful on the developing international situation and its possible repercussions to our country’s security.
We appeal to the public to cooperate with the PNP to ensure the safety of the Pope in his visit to our country and not to believe in rumor-mongers and speculations. (PNP-PIO)
