‘BUS HERO COP’ RECEIVES MEDALYA NG KADAKILAAN

A police officer who singlehandedly foiled an armed robbery on board in a passenger bus along the North Luzon Expressway was honored today at the PNP National Headquarters on his outstanding feet of bravery.

PO2 Ryan S Cabansag received Medalya ng Kadakilaan (PNP Heroism Medal) for his meritorious heroic act in responding to a robbery perpetrated by three armed suspects inside a bus travelling along NLEX with 38 passengers last September 13.

When the robbers ordered the passengers to hand over their bags, PO2 Cabansag drew his gun and introduced himself as policeman but one of the robbers allegedly fired at him, prompting him to retaliate and neutralize the two suspects to prevent further danger while the other suspect was able to get off the bus and escape.

Through his bravery and quick thinking, he averted possible injury and save more lives, as well, prevented the robbery despite the risk on his life and his family,

Also, PO2 Cabansag’s wife Mrs. Christine B. Cabansag received a plaque of appreciation in recognition of her courageous stand and resolve support to her husband in his heroic act.

PO2 Cabansag together with his wife and kids were on board when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 police officers received Medalya ng Kagitingan (PNP Merit Medal) for their heroic deeds in various operations against illegal drugs, loose firearms and wanted persons and responding to robbery/snatching incident.
