The police and the military’s Unity Walk to commemorate the 29th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution on Wednesday betrayed none of the cracks in their relationship that surfaced during the Senate hearings on the Mamasapano fiasco.

But the picture of unity was marred by a general’s accusation that the Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police chronically ignored the rules of engagement in Moro-controlled areas in Mindanao.

Roxas to PNP: Be focused, systematic in solving crimes

Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas has urged the Philippine National Police to be more focused, systematic and investigative in addressing crime situations in Metro Manila.

Roxas, in a weekly command conference in Camp Crame, said crime statistics that are gathered weekly based on blotters booked in different police stations in the National Capital Region (NCR) should be reviewed and analyzed by the station commanders and district directors in order to further bring down the number of crime incidents.

CIDG BARES NAMES OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF INQUIRY

PNP contradicts Purisima, says Roxas part of chain of command

 

  MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) has maintained that Interior Secretary Mar Roxas is part of its “chain of command,” which was earlier countered by its former chief Director General Alan Purisima.

PNP spokesperson Generoso Cerbo Jr. said Roxas, who was not informed of the covert operation as ordered by Purisima, was part of the PNP structure.

After FBI confirms Marwan’s death, MILF plans how to help gov’t get Usman

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The day after the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that it was indeed Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan who was killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, on Jan. 25, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chair Murad Ebrahim convened the group’s Central Committee in its base in Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat town.

Ali Haron, an assistant to the MILF Central Committee secretariat, said the meeting was ongoing as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

AFP ASSURES COOPERATION IN PROBE OF MAMASAPANO INCIDENT

The Board of Inquiry (BOI) looking into the circumstances surrounding police operation to neutralize two “high value targets” in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last January 25 that resulted in the death of 44 police commandos has been assured by the military leadership of the full cooperation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in its probe.

Police Director Benjamin Magalong, Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group who chairs the BOI has received the assurance from no less than AFP Chief of Staff, General Gregorio Pio P Catapang Jr.
