MARQUEZ CAPS LAST WORKING DAY IN OFFICE
The PNP Chief, Director General Ricardo C
Marquez capped the eve of his retirement with a hectic 12-hour work
schedule as he marked his last working day in office.
At the traditional Monday flag-raising
ceremony, Marquez joined DILG Secretary Mel Senen S Sarmiento in the
formal launch of the PNP-wide observance of the 21st Police Community
Relations Month.
He also presented the Medalya ng
Katapatan sa Paglilingkod (Distinguished Service Medal) to 21 members of
the PNP Directorial Staff, Directors of Integrated Police Operations
(DIPO) and Directors of National Support Units for notable individual
and Unit accomplishments.
In the same ceremony, Marquez signed on
behalf of the PNP a tripartite Memorandum of Agreement with University
of the Philippines-Manila and the Children Protection Network to forge
continuous commitment and partnership of the parties involved to extend
multi-disciplinary care to victims of abuse and exploitation.
The traditional Monday flag-raising
ceremony was highlighted by the blessing of 48 brand new units of
6-wheeler multi-role utility trucks recently acquired by the PNP for its
Police Regional Offices and National Support Units.
Later in the morning, the Chief PNP lead
the inauguration of the building marker for the Civil Service Group
One-Stop Shop building located at the main gate of Camp Crame. The
building will house frontline service offices involved in the processing
of documentation of requirements for licenses and permits for private
security agencies and licensed firearms holders.
Also on Monday morning, Marquez graced
the inauguration of the newly-built Operations Center of the Criminal
Investigation and Detection Group that serves as the hub and nerve
center of all focused police operations of CIDG against Organized Crime
Groups and Wanted Persons.
Later in the afternoon, the Chief PNP
hosted a testimonial parade and review ceremony in honor of outgoing
DILG Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento at the PNP Parade Grounds. Early
evening he was honored in testimonial dinner hosted by the PNP at the
Multi-Purpose Center.
Last Saturday, June 25, the Chief PNP
was honored with a full-dress parade and review ceremony by the Cadet
Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines in his Alma Mater, the Philippine
Military Academy at Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City.
Marquez, a member of the PMA
“Sandigan”Class of 1982, will formally relinquish command as the 20th
Chief of the PNP upon his retirement tomorrow Tuesday, culminating 38
years of service in the police organization. (PNP-PIO)
