MANILA, Philippines—”Honesty teams” will start going after corrupt policemen once the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) starts conducting lifestyle checks on the entire Philippine National Police (PNP) force.
‎According to Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office chief, ‎”honesty teams” from the PNP’s intelligence units will be sent out in two weeks to look into the properties and activities of corrupt policemen.
He said lifestyle checks on‎ policemen have been a practice in the PNP whenever they apply for promotion and submit their statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).
‎”This time, a re-energized honesty team will be dispatched from the (PNP) Directorate for Intelligence,” he said.

Each team is ‎composed of police officers in plainclothes.
The honesty teams have been in existence since 2006 under the leadership of former PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon.
“The only difference now is that ‎a new mechanism has been created,” Sindac added.
Last week, Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II vowed to conduct an inspection of PNP members’ properties, starting from the policemen of highest ranks down to the lowest.

PNP not sitting on cases vs cops – Sindac

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP public information office (PIO) chief, issued the statement in reaction to reports that National Police Commission (Napolcom) Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo Escueta is blaming the PNP for the delay in the final resolution of administrative cases involving police personnel.
The issue was raised in the wake of the involvement of several policemen in the September 1 EDSA robbery and kidnapping incident. It was found out that one of the policemen, SPO1 Ramil Hachero, has a pending case of grave misconduct with the penalty of dismissal from the service.

MANILA, Philippines–The Philippine National Police (PNP) had received a tip about a “quota system” that required low-ranking policemen to raise money from illegal activities to be passed on to their superiors so they could retain their posts.
PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac said the allegation of an anonymous police official was “a serious accusation that needs to be look into.”
“At the same time media reports of the quota system came out, there was an instruction to establish the validity and veracity of the anonymous police officer’s allegation,” Sindac said.

MANILA, Philippines—Despite the recent crimes involving policemen as perpetrators, the Philippine National Police (PNP) sought people’s appreciation on the efforts of police forces in solving high-profile cases.
This was after Quezon City Police arrested Pasay City Policeman PO2 Edgar Angel on August 23 for drug peddling and for killing car racer Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor in exchange of P150,000.
The solving of Pastor case was considered ‎by the PNP as one of its accomplishments under Special Task Group “Pivot.”
It was then followed up by a deadly incident involving PO2 Domino Alipio who ran amuck and ‎shot four teachers inside Pangasinan National High School on Monday.
“I hope our fellowmen will also see the sacrifices and effort of our policemen to solve cases like these,” Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office chief, said in a press briefing.

Public Urge to Secure Copy of IRF in Reporting Crime Incident

The Philippine National Police is advising the public to always secure a copy of their IRF or the Incident Record Form after reporting a crime incident to all Police Stations.
IRF is an accountable form to be filled out by a complainant which contains data provided by the Desk Officer pertaining to the complainant, victim or suspect, and including the narrative details of the incident.
