PNP CHIEF ORDERS PROBE ON ALLEGED INTRUSION OF COPS IN LABOR UNION’S COMPOUND

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T Eleazar directed an investigation into the alleged harassment done by police officers in the compound of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) in Diliman, Quezon City.

Information reaching Camp Crame stated that six police officers allegedly went to the TUCP compound last Tuesday (November 2) without any permission or search warrant. The cops supposedly took photos of the daily attendance list and interrogated the staff of the union.

TUCP President and TUCP party-list Representative Raymond Mendoza denounced the incident and called it an intrusion as the police personnel supposedly did not explain the purpose of their visit.

“I have tasked the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Quezon City Police District to look into the allegation against our personnel.

“We will determine if the protocols were followed by the police officers when they went to the TUCP compound.

The Chief PNP vowed that he would personally monitor the update on the investigation of this incident.

“The PNP has taken note of the TUCP’s complaint and we will seriously look into this. We will take the necessary action against the concerned policemen once proven that they have erred in their conduct,” the Chief PNP assured.
