4 Chinese kidnap-for-ransom suspects died in shoot-out with police
Four suspected Chinese kidnappers allegedly involved in the abduction of a Chinese national in the Visayas region died in a shoot-out with police authorities on Monday, PNP Officer-In-Charge PLTGEN Vicente D. Danao confirmed.
Citing the report submitted by PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group Director PBGEN Rudolph B Dimas, PLTGen Danao disclosed that the victim named Lyu Xingou, a Chinese national, was abducted at his garage in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City last May 25, 2022 at about 8:35 AM in the morning by four members of a kidnap-for-ransom group identified as Jinming Gong (Guangdong, China), Yiping You (Fujian, China), Fengqiang Li (Shandong, China), and Heng Lin (Fujian, China).
Accordingly, Xingou was preparing to report for work at the Mactan Newtown complex in Lapu-Lapu City when he was taken at gunpoint by the said four Chinese kidnappers who boarded a black Toyota Innova with unknown plate number and he was brought to a safe house.
While in captivity, the kidnappers demanded 1 million RMB as ransom from the family of the victim, however, the family only gave RMB 500,000 which was paid via WeChat payment portal.
Thru this, AKG VFU was able to locate the safe house of the group. Hence, a rescue operation was conducted by the operating units of AKG VFU, RID 7, RSOG 7, Lapu-Lapu City SWAT, and HPG 7 on May 30, 2022, 9:30 PM, at Block 9, Lot 14, Sevilla St., Aldea del Sol Subd., Brgy. Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu City.
As the operatives were about to enter the house, a fire-fight ensued that led to the death of the suspects and the safe rescue of the victim.
Recovered from the crime scene were four short firearms, several ammunition, one Samsung Laptop, 3 pieces of Vivo Blue YO1 cellular phones, 3 pieces Apple iPhone, pieces of Chinabank Cheque book, one Honor black cellular phone, 5 pieces USB and 2 pieces of handcuffs. The cadavers of the suspects were brought to a Cebu Funeral home after being processed by the SOCO team of the Regional Forensics Group 7.
“The unyielding manhunt operations against notorious kidnap-for-ransom groups serve as a strong signal to criminals that the PNP is very serious in addressing criminality and lawlessness in the country,” PLTGen Danao said.
Further investigation is being conducted if they have other cohorts still on the loose.
