PNP LEADS “MODUS STOPERANDI” CAMPAIGN

With the emergence of modus operandi like budol budol gang, salisi gang, ATM fraud and the like, the Philippine National Police together with the Young and Rubicam (Y&R) Philippines and Globe Telecom Inc. launched Modus STOPerandi Program today in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

A proactive crime prevention strategy to help address criminality through the use of new age technologies and innovative forms of communication, “Modus STOPerandi” is a campaign with five (5) strategic components namely: #SAFIE, What’s the Password, I’m CCTV, Skim the Difference and Identitxt, to help stop crime using mobile technology that can be easily used by a huge number of Filipinos with mobile phones.

“I am positive that the need for accessibility and efficiency of police and public awareness campaign will be delivered well by this program especially in NCR, where most of the citizens are more involved in social media, financial transactions and chances of meeting different people in the streets” said PNP Officer-In-Charge PDDG Leonardo A. Espina in a message delivered by the Director for Police Community Relations (DPCR) PDir Danilo S. Constantino.

“Ang programang ito ay magbubukas ng iba’t ibang oportunidad upang mas mabilis nating ma-“track” ang mga masasamang loob, ang mga krimen na nangyayari sa ating paligid, at maiwasang maging biktima ng iba’t ibang modus.” PDDG Espina added.

A signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was also made by the representatives of PNP, Y&R Philippines and Globe Telecom Inc. which will serve as a venue for mutual cooperation in terms of policies and action plans deemed necessary in the said program.

A way of keeping the community educated with anti-criminality strategies, the common ground of the said campaign is the social media and other technologies that give advantage to many people these days like taking selfies and capturing videos which the public can be used to deter minor and major crimes in different places at any time.

“I also urge all Police Regional Offices to replicate this campaign in their respective areas of responsibility to keep our people engaged in this kind of social obligation.” said PDir Constantino. (PNP-PIO)
