ARAW NG KAGITINGAN HEROES: PRO – 12 INTEL SAVE LIVES, STOPS BUS BOMBING
PNP Intel Operatives together with other police
and military units save lives for abruptly defusing an improvised
explosive device (IED) planted in a bus yesterday at Tacurong City.
Reports reached in National Operations Center at Camp Crame stated that at around 8:15 AM yesterday (April 9), intelligence operatives received information that one yellow bus line bearing plate number MVR 338 with 17 passengers including the driver and conductor, heading towards Isulan coming from Tacurong City allegedly has IED on board.
Immediately, Special Project MKI together with RID-12 SBTA, Tacurong CPS, JTF Talakudong, PA, RPSC Intel Operatives, RIO-12 and other police units in PRO-12 conducted hot pursuit to the said bus.
As a result, at around 10:25 AM, the bus was flagged down at RPSB 1st Coy located at barangay EJC Montilla, Tacurong City for verification and panelling by the Explosive Ordnance Division and K-9 Team of 33rd IB which turned out to be positive with two (2) IEDs 60mm and one RPG warhead inside a white cellphone.
Passengers were advice quickly to get out of the bus while the EOD team conducted safety procedures and at around 11:19AM the said bombs were detonated.
Meanwhile, Secretary of Interior and Local Government Mar Roxas and PNP Officer-in-Charge, PDDG Leonardo A Espina lauded the good intelligence and response of PRO-12 under the leadership of PCSUPT Lester O Camba, Regional Director.
“It will be another catastrophic to us if not for the prompt actions of our intel operatives. They save lives on Araw ng Kagitingan. Tunay nga na sila ay maituturing nating mga buhay na bayani!”Espina said.
PNP is still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the suspect/s of the said incident.(PNP-PIO)
