SARMIENTO, GAZMIN VISIT TROOPS

Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel S. Sarmiento and the Department of National Defense Secretary Voltaire T. Gazmin conducted joint visit to local troops composed of PNP and AFP personnel in Lucena City and Tarlac today.

Sarmiento and Gazmin were joined by National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Undersecretary Peter Corvera, PNP Director for Logistics PDir Juanito Vaño Jr., PNP Spokesperson PCSupt Wilben Mayor, and Atty. Gefer Mancol of DILG who were welcomed by AFP Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) Commander Lt. Gen. Ricardo R. Visaya and other AFP and PNP Field Commanders..

SILG and SND’s field sortie in Camp Nakar, Lucena City was focused on the emphasis of the principle of the Whole of Government Approach that strengthens PNP and AFP inter-operability as they discussed matters related to combating terrorism and election-related security preparations in the Southern Luzon area.

After the said meeting, Sarmiento and Gazmin joined the troops in a boodle fight.

From Lucena City, DILG and PNP officials went to Tarlac Police Provincial Office (PPO) in Camp General Francisco Macabulos, Tarlac via helicopter to distribute 17 Patrol Jeeps to 17 towns in Tarlac that will further enhance the mobility and capability of police officers in the field.

Sarmiento led the turn-over of 17 patrol jeeps to the municipal mayors and the representatives of Anao, Bamban, Camiling, Capas, Concepcion, Gerona, La Paz, Mayantoc, Moncada, Paniqui, Pura, Ramos, San Clemente, San Jose, San Manuel, Santa Ignacia, and Victoria.

SILG was also assisted by Tarlac Governor Victor Yap, Police Regional Office 3 Director PCSupt Rudy Lacadin and Tarlac PPO Director PSSupt Alex Sintin.

“Today’s distribution of Patrol Jeeps speaks well of the goal of the DILG and PNP to increase our capability in running before criminals in the streets and assisting our people in disaster response operations” PCSupt Mayor said.(PNP-PIO)
