6 Laguna police chiefs sacked
LAGUNA,
Philippines – Six police chiefs in this province have been relieved
from their posts for various reasons, Laguna police director Senior
Superintendent Florendo Saligao said yesterday.
Those relieved were the police chiefs of Siniloan, Nagcarlan, San Pedro City, Calamba City, Victoria and Cabuyao.
Deputy provincial director for administration Superintendent Nilo Maitim was appointed officer-in-charge of the Cabuyao police, replacing Superintendent Leonardo Luna, who was accused of violating a police training policy.
Superintendent Cecillo Ramos Ison replaced Superintendent Fernando Ortega as San Pedro City police chief. Ortega replaced Chief Superintendent Marvin Saro as Calamba City police chief.
Chief Inspector Jerry Abalos, Victoria police chief, and seven of his men were relieved over allegations of summary execution. Senior Inspector Jalet Demesa Castillejo replaced him.
Senior Inspector Jaylet Castillejo of Siniloan and Chief Inspector Lyrea Cosio of Nagcarlan were replaced for overstaying in their post. Castillejo was replaced by Senior Inspector Jan Albert Cole while Chief Inspector Leopoldo Ferrer took over the post of Cosio.

Cops kill 3 cab robbers in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines - Three suspected robbers were killed on Thursday after a shootout with policemen in Quezon City.
Initial reports said that the suspects boarded a taxicab along Quezon Avenue and held up its driver.
At gunpoint, the three robbers took the driver's earnings then drove away with the cab, leaving the victim behind.
However, policemen spotted the suspects driving along Mindanao Avenue around 1 a.m. after the victim reported the incident.
After a brief chase, authorities engaged and killed the suspects in a shootout.
Police recovered three cal. 38 revolvers from the still unidentified suspects.
