PNP ACCOUNTS FOR 17, 000 WANTED PERSON AND 4,000 LOOSE FIREARMS IN 5-MONTH OPERATIONS
The
Philippine National Police, under the supervision of Officer-in-Charge
PDDG Leonardo A Espina, neutralized a total number of 17,098 wanted
persons while accounted a total number of 4, 473 firearms from January
to May 2015.
On
campaign against wanted persons, 16, 917 were arrested, 66 killed and
115 surrendered. Eight (8) of these wanted persons have monetary
rewards. Significant accomplishment of the campaign against wanted
person was the killing of international terrorist ZULFIRI BINHIR alias
“Marwan” during a high risk operation through a service of warrant of
arrest on January at Brgy. Pidsawan, Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
While
operations against organized crime group resulted in the disbandment of
33 gangs and arrest of 417 gang members, recovery of 177 assorted
firearms and filing of 215 cases in courts.
PDDG
Espina said, “The PNP sustained its program in anti-criminality
operations to keep the communities safer by deploying more uniformed
personnel to carry out focused police operations. Patrolling and
presence of the police officers assures law abiding citizen of their
safety from any criminal elements.”
"Through the sustained implementation
of Oplan Lambat Sibat spearheaded by DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, the PNP
intensified police presence on streets and anti-criminality campaigns
with the primary goal of reducing crime and improving public safety"
Espina added.
Oplan
Lambat Sibat is being cascaded in Region 3, Pro-4A and NCR that
resulted in the downtrend of crime statistics as compared with the
