ROXAS COMMENDS PNP FOR LAMBAT-SIBAT SUCCESS

The
Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas
congratulates the PNP for a job well done during the regular
Lambat-Sibat meeting on Wednesday.
Secretary
Roxas mentioned that in just a year of Lambat-Sibat campaign, the DILG
and PNP accomplished a lot by keeping a decreasing trend in NCR crime
rate and going before the Most Wanted Persons in Metro Manila.
Since
Lambat campaign began in June 2014, crimes in Metro Manila was reduced
by more than 60 percent as of mid-June 2015. From an average of 919
incidents last year, criminality went down to 315 incidents this year.These incidents include street crime like Robbery, Theft, Carnapping and Motorcyclenapping.
OPLAN
LAMBAT, from its name, was designed to net petty criminals. Each strand
represents a smaller police operation such as increased checkpoints,
mobile and beat patrols, and intensified serving of arrest warrants.
Furthermore,
the proverbial long arm of the law has eventually caught up 438 Most
Wanted Persons in Metro Manila over the past ten (10) months of
relentless Sibat operations in the National Capital Region.
Those
arrested represent 73% of the total 603 Most Wanted Persons recorded in
the NCRPO watch list of suspects wanted by the law for alleged
involvement in criminal activity.
The
PNP Directorate for Intelligence (DI) also noted that out of 75
Criminal Gangs being watched by the PNP operatives, 43% were neutralized
and 32% were degraded. However, elements of different PNP units are
still on guard and looking for the remaining 25% of active criminal
gangs in NCR.
OPLAN
SIBAT was designed as a unified intel target operations of the PNP
using combined intelligence resources of various operating units.
