Eleazar: Crimes in NCR down by 49 % since 2016
Compared to the last two years of the previous administration, the crime rate in Metro Manila has dropped by 49 percent, according to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
“Ito pong first two years ng present administration, kung ikukumpara po natin itong crime incidence doon po sa last two years of the past administration, sa Metro Manila 49 percent po ang ibinaba,” Eleazar said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer on Thursday.
Crimes against property meanwhile such as robbery, theft, and car theft also decreased by 58 percent over the two-year span.
He added that car theft incidents dropped by 76 percent in the Metro, to include Quezon City.
It would be recalled that the fight against crime and illegal drugs was one of the campaign promises of President Duterte. /muf
