PNP chief orders focused security ops in 'vulnerable' barangays
MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil on Wednesday directed all police units to intensify security operations across all barangays, with particular attention to the most vulnerable and geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.
In a statement, Marbil said the order complements the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB) program, which has demonstrated significant success in reducing crime rates, combating terrorism, and addressing illegal drug activities.
To enhance this grassroots initiative, Marbil said PNP units must prioritize the strategic deployment of police officers in every barangay, focusing mainly on high-risk and vulnerable areas.
Additionally, mobile patrol units will conduct ongoing roving operations within their designated areas.
These patrols are vital to the PNP’s rapid response capability and play a crucial role in maintaining public safety.
“Our mobile patrols will serve as the eyes and ears on the ground, always prepared to respond at a moment’s notice. No distress call will go unanswered —every Filipino must be assured that help is always within reach,” Marbil said.
Marbil also called on police officers to actively engage and collaborate with public safety volunteers within their communities.
“Our strength lies not just in our numbers, but in our unity with the community. Together with our public safety volunteers, we will create an unbreakable chain of security across the nation,” he added.
Marbil also underscored the immediate implementation of these directives, with regular reports on its execution to be submitted to PNP headquarters for review and further guidance. (PNA)
