78K cops, firefighters on standby for Yuletide celebration – DILG
MANILA – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Wednesday at least 78,000 cops and firefighters are on standby to ensure that the rest of the Yuletide season remains peaceful and free from any untoward incidents.
In this joyous season of commemorating the birth of our Lord Jesus, the DILG is one with every Filipino in our sincere gratitude for the successes we have achieved this year despite the countless trials and storms we have gone through),” Remulla said in a statement.
He said personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) are on standby to secure the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
To ensure the safety of our countrymen this Christmas season, thousands of personnel, nearly 40,000 members of the PNP and nearly 38,000 firefighters of the BFP, are on standby),” Remulla said.
Our BJMP is also on alert to ensure that Christmas and New Year will be peaceful for our PDLs or persons deprived of liberty).”
He said the DILG would continue to walk towards a truly peaceful, prosperous and progressive country in the coming 2025.
“Sa atin pong pagharap sa parating na Bagong Taon, kasama ninyo po ang DILG sa patuloy nating pagtahak tungo sa tunay na payapa, maunlad at progresibong Bagong Pilipinas (As we face the coming New Year, the DILG is with you in our continued journey towards a truly peaceful, prosperous and progressive New Philippines)!” he said.
PNP spokesperson and information chief Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo earlier said no significant untoward incident was recorded on Christmas Eve. (PNA)
