PNP: Bulacan suspects used drugs, drunk before massacre
Carmelino Ibañez, 26, construction worker, is being interviewed by the media following his arrest for the June 27 massacre of a family in the city of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. He is now detained in Camp Olivas, Pampanga on Thursday.
One of the suspects arrested for the massacre of a family of five in Bulacan admitted on Thursday he used illegal drugs and consumed alcohol before raping and killing two women victims on June 27.
A DZMM radio report said the 26-year-old construction worker is currently under the custody of the San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan police, who are still hunting down the other suspects.
In another exclusive interview with ABS-CBN news, Ibañez also admitted raping Carlos’ wife Estrella, 28, and his mother-in-law Aurora, 58.
Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, Philippine National Police Region 3 director, said when a suspect is under the influence of illegal drugs, he can do anything, even the most gruesome crimes.
When asked about their motive behind the rape-murder, Ibañez said “wala lang po. Parang trip trip lang.”
“Hindi po namin sila pinlano patayin. Kusa lang naming pinasok… Parang naisipan lang namin,” Ibañez said.
Ibañez, who has been living in the same neighborhood as Carlos for a year, divulged that he was with a certain “Tony” and “Inggo” during the massacre.
Also over DZMM, Carlos turned emotional as he gave a message to the killers of his family.
“Sana makonsensya kayo. Sana hindi kayo patahimikin ng konsenya niyo. Ewan ko lang kung makakatulog pa kayo sa ginawa nyo sa pamilya ko. Siguro sinapian na kayo ng demonyo,” Carlos said.
On Tuesday morning, Carlos discovered the bodies of his wife Estrella, his mother-in-law, Aurora and his three children when he returned home from work.
Carlos’ wife Estrella was lying naked on the floor while Aurora, 58, was stripped of her under garments. Both had several stab wounds numbering 40 to 50.
He also found his three children—seven-year-old Ella , one-year-old Dexter Jr., and 11-year-old Donny—locked inside a room, also dead from stab wounds. JPV/rga
