Serve people well, cops told on PH 127th Independence Day
MANILA – As the country observes its 127th Independence Day with the theme, “Kalayaan.
In a statement on Thursday, Torre said as protectors of peace and defenders of democracy, the PNP stands in solidarity with the Filipino people in upholding the hard-earned freedom “that defines our identity as a sovereign nation.”
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure a safe and secure environment where every citizen can pursue a just and progressive future. The PNP takes this opportunity to reaffirm its role in safeguarding the rights and liberties of our people — a responsibility deeply rooted in the ideals of our heroes,” Torre said.
“As we celebrate this historic day, we pay tribute to the unwavering courage and immense sacrifices of our forebears who fought valiantly for the freedoms we now enjoy. Their legacy lives on in every Filipino heart that beats with pride, dignity, and love for our motherland.”
Torre said this year’s theme “reminds us that the story of our independence is not only one of the past but a continuing narrative that shapes the future.”
He vowed to fulfill their mandate to build a peaceful and orderly society guided by the visionary leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and anchored in the national aspiration for a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines).
The PNP deployed a total of 10,969 personnel from various units and support offices across Metro Manila to ensure peace, order, and public safety throughout the day’s celebrations.
“We call on the public to cooperate with our personnel, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activities. Together, let us honor our nation’s history and freedom with unity and discipline,” he said. (PNA)
