Cops nab nine ‘wanted’ persons in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) intensified campaign against wanted persons led to the arrest of nine fugitives in various parts of Bicol during the past two days, the Bicol police spokesperson said Wednesday.

“The arrest of nine wanted persons is in line with the PNP PATROL Plan 2030, where under its ‘Target Output Policy,’ police units in various provinces, cities and towns in Bicol were required to serve local court warrants of arrest to people facing criminal cases,” said Chief Insp. Malu Calubaquib, chief of the police public information office in Bicol.

Quoting a police report, she said the arrested persons on July 6 and 7 were charged with offenses ranging from rape to illegal gambling.

PNP ACCOUNTS FOR 17, 000 WANTED PERSON AND 4,000 LOOSE FIREARMS IN 5-MONTH OPERATIONS

The Philippine National Police, under the supervision of Officer-in-Charge PDDG Leonardo A Espina, neutralized a total number of 17,098 wanted persons while accounted a total number of 4, 473 firearms from January to May 2015.

On campaign against wanted persons, 16, 917 were arrested, 66 killed and 115 surrendered. Eight (8) of these wanted persons have monetary rewards. Significant accomplishment of the campaign against wanted person was the killing of international terrorist ZULFIRI BINHIR alias “Marwan” during a high risk operation through a service of warrant of arrest on January at Brgy. Pidsawan, Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

Espina supports cops allegedly assaulted by Binay

Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina backed the policemen allegedly assaulted and threatened by Vice President Jejomar Binay during a two-day standoff at the Makati City Hall.

“Anything that would be needed by our men in (seeking redress) for their grievances, we will support,” Espina said during a press conference at Camp Crame on Wednesday with some of the police officers involved in the standoff.

ROXAS COMMENDS PNP FOR LAMBAT-SIBAT SUCCESS

PNP Public Information Office Published on 26 June 2015

The Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas congratulates the PNP for a job well done during the regular Lambat-Sibat meeting on Wednesday.

Secretary Roxas mentioned that in just a year of Lambat-Sibat campaign, the DILG and PNP accomplished a lot by keeping a decreasing trend in NCR crime rate and going before the Most Wanted Persons in Metro Manila.
